Tufting Yarn

This wool (also suitable for the punch needle) is perfect for tufting your rugs. It is Mattimat's own brand: Tufting Yarn. The wool is made of acrylic and has a yarn thickness of 3.5. The great thing about this wool is that it gives your rug a nice density and... it is available in many colors! Please note: with this thickness, always work with 2 strands at the same time.

The important question is of course: how much wool do you need? Well... that's difficult to answer. It depends on several factors: do you tuft cutpile or looppile? Which machine do you use? At what height do you tuft? How close do you tuft the lines next to each other? How fast or how slow do you tuft the lines? I tested it with my own rugs with this Tufting Yarn and I used around 850 grams per 1 m2. That's about 17 balls of Tufting Yarn. So, there is approximately 2550 meters of wool per m2 in your tufted rug.
